From the elements of Höller’s artwork between polycarbonate and air to the words of the Mancuso Plant Revolution: for plants «the only way to survive is to grow up in a completely different way from animals. Being a plant, in fact. As in a negative, what in animals is white, in plants it is black, and vice versa: the animals move, the plants are sessile; the animals are fast, the plants are slow; the animals are heterotrophic, autotrophic plants; the animals produce CO2, the plants fix CO2 and we could go on for a long time. The series of anatomical-physiological antinomies between plants and animals continues up to what I consider the most decisive and, in absolute, most unknown among all: the contrast between diffusion and concentration. We could summarize it in this way: all the functions that are concentrated in specialized organs in the animals, in the plants are spread throughout the body».
